Cooked Tuna — Hand Built Ceramic Sculpture | Platinum Edition
This is the Platinum Edition hand built tuna can. And the name is literal. The metallic lid is finished with real platinum lustre glaze, applied by hand and fired a third time at a lower temperature to achieve that distinctive mirror-like sheen. It is the most labour-intensive and costly piece in the series, and it shows.
The body is hand built entirely from stoneware clay, painted with underglaze, a shiny clear glaze finish and fired before the platinum lustre is applied and the third firing begins.
Materials: Stoneware clay, underglazes, clear glaze, platinum luster
Dimensions: Approximately the size of a large supermarket tuna can
Firings: Three
Please note: Because this piece is entirely hand built — not moulded or mass produced — every single one carries its own subtle variations in form, texture, colour, and finish. Platinum luster in particular can vary in tone and reflectivity between firings. Small irregularities, slight asymmetries, and surface quirks are not flaws. They are the fingerprints of the process and what makes each piece genuinely one of a kind.
